Portofino

Portofino blue dishes and Italian coastal tableware designed in Italy. Baci Milano's Portofino collection is the Mediterranean-blue table — melamine and porcelain plates, bowls, serving dishes, tablecloths, and table linens in the coastal-Italian aesthetic that draws from the Ligurian coast. The set you build when you want the table to feel like the Italian Riviera.

Portofino blue dishes — the specific look

Portofino blue is a particular shade. Not navy. Not turquoise. The Mediterranean blue of the Ligurian coast at noon — deeper than sky, lighter than indigo, with a hint of green. Baci Milano's Portofino collection is built around this exact color, with cream and coral accents.

The dishes are 28cm dinner plates, 23cm soup plates, 21cm dessert plates, plus oval serving bowls, salad bowls, serving platters, rectangular trays, and cutting boards. The melamine pieces are food-safe, dishwasher-safe, and shatterproof — made for outdoor use. The porcelain pieces are the indoor versions, hand-decorated to the same pattern specification.

How to use Portofino dishes

Outdoor dining. The melamine is shatterproof, dishwasher-safe, and built for patio, poolside, and beach-house use. This is the primary use case for Portofino: the Italian summer table.

Coastal-themed dinner party. A full Portofino setting (dinner plate + soup plate + dessert plate + tablecloth + runner) reads as a Riviera table.

Wedding registry. The full Portofino set is a popular registry choice for couples who want a recognizable, themed table.

Mixed with porcelain. Portofino melamine pairs with the matching Portofino porcelain pieces for an indoor formal version of the same table.

Why melamine for the Portofino line

Italian outdoor dining demands a material that survives drops, doesn't crack in heat, and survives the dishwasher. Real ceramic doesn't. Real glass doesn't. High-grade melamine — specifically the food-safe, BPA-free formulation Baci Milano uses — does all three. The Portofino line in melamine is the right material for the coastal-Italian context.

Care

Melamine: dishwasher safe (top rack preferred). Microwave NOT recommended. Hand-wash for the porcelain. Tablecloths and runners: machine wash 30°C, the antistain treatment is permanent.
